German robotics and automation systems are designed for precision, repeatability, and long service life. Every joint, actuator, and positioning stage depends on accurately manufactured pins and shafts to maintain alignment, transmit motion, and locate components. Tingfeng Hardware manufactures custom step pins, shoulder pins, and pivot pins that meet the demanding requirements of these applications.
Step Pins for Actuator Linkages
Linear actuators and servo-driven mechanisms often use step pins to connect moving links while maintaining precise alignment. A step pin features multiple diameters along its length: a precision bearing surface for the link, a smaller diameter for a retaining ring, and a threaded end for secure fastening. Each step must be concentric to within 0.02mm to ensure smooth motion. Our CNC turning process achieves coaxiality of ≤0.02mm and surface finishes down to Ra 0.8μm.
Shoulder Pins for Precision Stops
Shoulder pins combine a precision ground pin section with a larger shoulder that acts as a stop or locating face. In miniature linear guides and positioning stages, shoulder pins provide both alignment and travel limits. We manufacture shoulder pins with step diameters from 3mm to 25mm, with shoulder faces perpendicular to the pin axis within 0.02mm.
Pivot Pins for Robot Joints
Robot joints require pivot pins that allow rotation while maintaining precise alignment between adjacent links. A typical pivot pin has a precision ground bearing surface and may include a retaining groove or threaded end for secure installation. Our pivot pins are manufactured from 304 or 316 stainless steel, with passivation for corrosion resistance in cleanroom environments.
Small Diameter Pins for Miniature Mechanisms
For compact automation modules and micro-actuators, pins with diameters as small as 2mm are often required. These small pins demand exceptional process control to maintain tolerances. We manufacture small diameter step pins and pivot pins with diameters from 2mm to 10mm, meeting the compact design requirements of precision automation equipment.
Knurling for Press-Fit Retention
For pins that require secure press-fit installation, knurling provides a reliable interference surface. Our straight and diamond knurling patterns, produced per DIN 82, create consistent grip without damaging mating bores. Knurled locating pins are common in quick-change tooling and positioning fixtures.
Material and Finish Options
We offer 303 stainless steel, 304 stainless steel, and free-cutting steel options. Passivation removes surface contaminants, ensuring cleanroom compatibility. Zinc nickel plating provides additional corrosion protection for applications in humid environments.
